Dear Future Sponsor:
We are writing this letter, requesting your participation and sponsorship of a business expo during the Mehrgan Cultural Foundation, a 501(c) (3) organization; annual fall conference. This year, it will be held at Sheraton Premiere at Tyson’s Corner in Virginia, September 2-5, 2011.
Based on the 1990 census, there are an estimated 1.56M Iranian Americans living in the United States. The largest population of Iranian Americans live in, California, estimated at over 700,000. The second largest concentration are living in, the Washington DC area, estimated at over 100,000.
Farsinet suggests “Iranian-Americans are far more numerous in the United States than census data indicate and are among the most highly educated people in the country, according to research by the Iranian Studies Group, an independent academic organization, at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Through surveys of Fortune 500 companies and other major corporations, the researchers identified more than 50 Iranian-Americans in senior leadership positions at companies with more than $200 million in asset value, including General Electric, AT&T, IBM, Verizon, Intel, Cisco, Motorola, Oracle, Nortel Networks, Lucent Technologies, and eBay. Fortune magazine ranks Pierre Omidyar, founder and chairman of the board of eBay, the wildly popular online auction company, as the second richest American entrepreneur under age 40.
Many Iranians in the United States are working, and many own their own businesses. Based on 1990 census figures:
- 84% of Iranians-Americans speak fluent English
- 46% have a bachelor’s degree or higher, which ranks the group not only higher than any other recently-arrived immigrant group, but also higher than natives in terms of educational achievement.
- Iranian-Americans have a higher occupational and financial accomplishment
- 43% are in professional and managerial positions
- 35% in technical and administrative
- 10% are in various services and the balance, are spread over farming, craft and laborers.
- 48% of the Iranian-American community, are dual- income earners, and 22% own their own businesses
- Median family income is $55,501, substantially above the national average of $35,492 and per capita income is $18,040
- 92% of Iranians have a mortgage.”
In an effort to recognize diversity in its’ various forms within our community, we are reaching out to you and your Community Relations, Resource or Cultural Groups within your company to assist us in creating a spectacular business expo.
Year over year, we have seen a minimum of 20% increase in attendance. We are anticipating at least 2,500 business people at the business expo this year, over the course of the three and half days, with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday being the highest attended days.
We need your assistance in becoming a sponsor or sponsoring a booth. Each day of the conference, the group will take 3-5 breaks, varying from 30 minutes to 1 hour, which will provide your representatives, an opportunity to interact with the participants, network and conduct business. Each participant will receive a card that they will carry with them to each booth. Each vendor will need to sign off on the card in order for the participant to be entered into the drawing for a door prize.
Without companies/organizations such as yours, it would not be possible to build meaningful business relationships with such a diverse group of business people.
